PINK, DIRTY, SOFT, (2019)

clean, hairy, free, dark, a game, wild, intimate, uncomfortable, political, magical, owned.

Satisfaction.

Pink, Dirty, Soft is a collaboration between four young women. The piece started from exploring the theme of satisfaction. From there the creative team went on to discuss their experiences of the conflict between how we experience our bodies and sexuality in contrast to how the society views it, controls it, directs it, uses it, consumes it.

Siyi's design enables the dancers to concretely be part of a structure, detach themselves and destroy. The design creates a strong visuality as well as works as a medium to show the two women actively changing their surroundings, having an impact and being active. Changing design elements enable us to see the space and the dancers in relation to it differently. Dancers work intricately with the design finding security, humour, frustration, restriction and freedom.
