A DIY event, produced and curated by Rebecca Douglass and Tasha Hess-Neustadt, in the spirit of creating an artist-led sharing space to premiere our new screendance 'erms?' and extend the platform to others who have been making work after 2019.
‘erms?’, a digital performance film, spawned from the desire to dance together in unison, the absurdity of dancing in the middle of a pandemic, and a fascination with the colour orange. It began as a live-streamed performance curated by Themselves Collective in August 2020, then extended into a long distance collaboration via zoom between the UK and Berlin.
'erms? extravaganza' aims to envision new forms of digital presentation. It is a cyber-sharing, squeezing out what is left of virtual video communications. It will present artwork from a variety of disciplines, ranging from dance and performance art to live drawing, animation, photography, comedy, and DJ sets.
Instead of being a static moment of showing and watching, we aspire for this platform to be a moment of interaction, participation and all-round collectivity. Along with sharing art, we encourage creators to offer a suggestion of how the audience can engage with their art, before, during or after. We hope that this format will allow emerging artists to gather feedback and ideas to expand their art beyond its embryonic state.
